The Age of Aquarius alive and well in 2016?
Will the year 2016 represent a new dawning in the Age of Aquarius for mankind, creating a new peace around the globe? For centuries the start of this new golden age of humanity has been predicted, discussed, and perhaps even longed for. While we may not be there yet at the global level, perhaps, a critical mass of elevated and individuated individuals is already on the rise, and 2016 could be the year it all changes. How are you finding your ease to stay grounded, loving and peaceful in this New Year? Two quarters of 2016 have already passed. Have you been paying attention?
Stories of the Age of Aquarius predict and foretell a critical mass of loving and enlightened individuals who take the peace and love movement to the next regional or continental level, before going global. What a pleasant New Year kind of thought, one of hope and optimism for a better world, right? But wait; didn’t the Flower Power Generation try that whole peace and love thing once before? Well maybe this time, in 2016, the love and the peace movement will stick.
Living during the Age of Aquarius might be like:
“Harmony and understanding
Sympathy and trust abounding
No more falsehoods or derisions
Golden living dreams of visions
Mystic crystal revelation
And the mind’s true liberation”
For today’s Monday Music selection we are going all the way back to 1968 to find exactly that kind of hope and optimism, from almost 50 years ago. In 1968 the first performance of the musical “Hair” hit Broadway, and later the play evolved into a movie musical production dealing with racism, war, drugs, love, sex, and other gritty topics. Today’s Monday Music selection is “Hair’s” popular song “Aquarius,” an ode to what living during the Age of Aquarius might be like, as posted by Patricia Berdun on YouTube:
The mind’s true liberation may come in the Age of Aquarius
If you have not yet seen the movie version of “Hair”, you might want to add it to your bucket list. It still remains interesting and valuable today, as a study of human nature and how far the species has come in 50 years. “Hair” the movie challenges norms and stigmas. The movie may even highlight some of the choice points along the way to becoming audacious, and coloring outside the lines.
Today, in 2016, many of the issues tackled in the “Hair” the musical movie may seem of little significance. But if you remember the timeline of the 60s, emerging feminism, flower power, love, peace and “the Establishment,” your perspective might shift to awe and wonder at the bravery of the times and the people involved with the project. Would that more of us were as brave today! For now, the closest we humans might get to the Age of Aquarius, is seeing or experiencing, or even ascribing to its potential through the musical “Hair” and the song, “Aquarius”.
Another way to view this musical clip, might be to watch your own reactions to the things forbidden. For a more in-depth observation exercise, watch the whole movie, and take note of how you feel when the rules are broken, or cheated, or circumvented. This might actually inform you quite a bit about yourself, your tolerances and intolerances. The movie experience might even point out a few of your blind spots, or your hard-to-see proclivities.
How Aquarian-minded are you?
As we approach the halfway-mark of 2016, take a moment to pause and consider the gift of another year of life on this planet. Are you there yet, living from a space or consciousness of the Age of Aquarius with “Harmony and understanding, Sympathy and trust abounding”? As this New Year proceeds, how will you take stock of your life and your place in this universe?
Will you actively notice, observe and promote an Age of Aquarius where “love will steer the stars”? This Monday Music selection reminds us to be present to the Age of Aquarius easily found in our own internal spaces. “Aquarius”
When the moon is in the seventh house
And Jupiter aligns with Mars
Then peace will guide the planets
And love will steer the stars
This is the dawning of the Age of Aquarius
The Age of Aquarius, Aquarius
Harmony and understanding
Sympathy and trust abounding
No more falsehoods or derisions
Golden living dreams of visions
Mystic crystal revelation
And the mind’s true liberation
Aquarius, Aquarius
When the moon is in the seventh house
And Jupiter aligns with Mars
Then peace will guide the planets
And love will steer the stars
This is the dawning of the Age of Aquarius
The Age of Aquarius, Aquarius, Aquarius
Aquarius, Aquarius
Let the sunshine, let the sunshine in
The sunshine in
Let the sunshine, let the sunshine in
The sunshine in
Let the sunshine, let the sunshine in
The sunshine in
Let the sunshine, let the sunshine in
The sunshine in
