Learn to “Serious Play” this fall at Heartsone Lodge

Learn to play seriously this fall with Serious Fun Retreats at Heartstone Lodge Retreat in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia.

Playing seriously? What is that? And who would have thought that fun and play needed to be learned?

Sadly, there are those of us in this world–workaholics, dutiful spouses and parents, and worry-warts,  just to name a few–for whom “playing” on any scale is less than natural or easy. Equally, there are those of us in this world for whom play comes naturally, but perhaps not with a focused intentionality? This Serious Fun Retreats weekend seems to be a potential antidote for both groups of people. It’s good to have options!

How “Serious Play” is constructed

What are some components of fun? Time, space, good companionship, laughter, dance, food, conversation, and child-like curiosity sound like good starting points. And from Thursday Sept. 11-Saturday Sept. 13, participates at this Serious Play Retreats can immerse themselves in various forms of play facilitated by Heather Umberger (Nia Blue Belt, Certified Laughter Yoga Leader, Certified in Ageless Grace, MELT Method and bodywork) and Leigh Meredith (Certified Laughter Yoga Teacher) of Serious Play Retreats (Read more about these facilitators.)

According to the event organizer’s website this Fall 2015 weekend includes:

“….plenty of time to experience different kinds of play – plus free time for reflection, exploring the retreat center trails and meditation garden. We’ll also take time throughout the retreat to discuss and integrate your experiences.

Those looking for a unique “gift to self”, girlfriend’s weekend getaway, imagination-driven direction for a next phase of life, more vigor and spontaneity in daily living, ingenuity and creativity at work, a relief from sadness and anxiety or simply wanting to seriously goof off for a weekend – join us!”

Laughter Yoga, meditation, Nia, a gamma wave session and various adult art methodologies will be employed.
