Awesome human potential
Although still focusing on themes of human potential, self-acceptance, self-discovery and human compassion, here’s something a little different today for the Grounded Relating Monday Music Challenge. The group Toxic Audio does not use any instruments other than the human voice and vocal chords to produce their exciting a cappella music.
No lyrics for this one; just enjoy the sounds and the energy.

Humans frequently do the seemingly impossible
You can almost see them goofing around behind closed doors and then viola! A new sound is created, and then that creativity built on the next creativity. And before Toxic Audio knew it, their new creative sound was a hit. When you see and listen to it for yourself, you may find yourself inspired too. Inspired to be a part of the tribe who was ingenious enough to do something as seemingly impossible as to create orchestral sound with a few human voices.
A human potential theme for this spring’s Monday Music selections is emerging. Last week we learned about growing ideas in the garden of our mind. This week we learn about the human need to create and innovate through Toxic Audio.
The actual Human Potential Movement started in the 1960s
The Human Potential Movement is actually a real thing, influenced by humanistic psychology and Abraham Maslow’s ideas about peak experiences. The Human Potential Movement dates back to the 1960s, a most robust spiritual awakening time, that aspects of society are still trying to embrace. There were many players in the Human Potential Movement, but Esalen claims to be its birthplace. According to Esalen’s website:
Esalen is the birthplace of the human potential movement. Where Freud gave us a portrait of the human condition based on pathology, Murphy and Price were inspired early on by Abraham Maslow’s psychology of higher health and peak experiences. With the help of hundreds of workshop leaders drawn from many disciplines and with many practices, Esalen allows its visitors not just sanctuary from the urban hubbub, but an opportunity to push the envelopes of their own and society’s existing limits.
Remembering the Grounded Relating music challenge to stay present to yourself today through music, take a listen. Then you might ponder: How are you, or how can you be, creative in your vocalizations today? Don’t forget to be your true awesome self today!
