Celestial happenings: We-Are-All-One parties in the sky.
Look up or you might miss it! Full moons, meteor showers, solar and lunar eclipses: these celestial happenings, are like We-Are-All-One big family parties in the sky.
For all time, the galactic skies have sourced imaginative stories, explanations, warnings, divinations, threats and/or omens. For thousands of years, people not too unlike ourselves, have been witnessing these Sky Events, and making stories or meanings out of them. In past centuries, decisions have been made according to the moon cycles. Eclipses and other galactic events foretold of battles lost or won. Inner journeys may have been launched and completed in accordance with planetary alignments. How do you make the most of the universe’s nightly displays?
Although today, humankind might pay less attention to the night sky around them, perhaps than in the past, the theater of story continues: mythologically, astrologically, scientifically. Every day something exciting is happening in your physical universe; are you awake to it?
The natural world: a practice for being here NOW
Being here NOW can be experienced in many forms, and usually one object of attention can get you there quickest. Without attachment to perfection, might the journey “there” prove more pleasant? Certainly less attachment breeds more comfort and ease, and perhaps even a little flexibility and range. Why not enjoy the natural world, or the night sky, as a practice to be here NOW?
Science says we are “star stuff.” Astrologists say our nature, moods and decisions are influenced by the movement of the galactic bodies. Women’s menses has long been tied to the cycles of the moon. Witnessing an eclipse definitely can remind one of their “small dot in a big black void” nature. The ancient peoples on the earth built grand temples, pyramids and star observatories to witness the sky and thereby know how to live in harmony with the planet. Star gazing in those days had practical functionality, foretelling the coming of spring, the time to harvest, the time of winter, etc.; star gazing was integral to life in the past. Perhaps it still is today?
Why care about what’s happening in your sky? It’s a choice; but what a wonderful opportunity to be present in the moment, to witness what is happening as it rises.
Also, moon rise, meteor showers, eclipses, and other Sky Events, are quite the lovely phenomenon to behold. These publicly and freely available events point to a collective community of living things: As Above, So Below; As Below, So Above.
The Grounded Relating Events calendar strives to point out particular celestial happenings of interest, for you viewing, and evolving, pleasure. It’s good to have reminders to Be Here Now.
