Use heart faith to annually shed leaves of doubt
Each August, children, parents and even some adults, prepare to go to school, shedding the leaves of doubt and opening to new experiences of heart faith. Meditating on this notion of heart faith, today’s Monday Music is the theme song “Faith of the Heart” from “Enterprise,” the Star Trek television show.
For some children as they prepare for the early fall start of school lessons, going to school is a first time event, both exciting and daunting for their little heart faith. The child is leaving the familiar family home and embracing the new school environment. For some adults, a return to school may be a long-awaited for realization of a longing, a heart faith, to get back to school and finish their degree. For other adults, going back to school might mark out a new career path or life directing event that their heart faith has coached into emergence. Both scenarios celebrate a new path of action that leaves doubt behind. The lyrics of “Faith of the Heart” say:
“It’s been a long road
Getting from there to here
It’s been a long time
But my time is finally near”
Whatever the circumstances—be it school, career, love or other life adventures—the heart longs to be open, to shed doubt, to experience being heard, held and valued. And once heart faith is finally recognized, action is sure to quickly follow. A path of action becomes very clear. This fall with the advent of school, we enter yet another season of shedding and letting go; and it is no different than the hundreds of fall seasons before this one.
Going where your heart faith will take you
For weeks prior to the start of a the school year, and the return of fall, there is a “ritualistic” air of anticipation, excitement, energy, dread, erasers, fat crayons, spiral notebooks, homework, shedding old clothes, getting new clothes…just a sense of fresh departures in the air. In honor of that energy of potential and excitement that happens every year, enjoy this Monday Music selection of “Faith of the Heart,” theme song from the television Star Trek series “Enterprise.”
Video sung by Russell Watson and posted on YouTube by Violative911:
This fall take a look at where your excitement is. What is your sense of daring departure? How are your dreams and longings, your heart faith, being held? How does your heart faith manifest? How do you tend your heart faith? Are you paying attention? Do you have:
“…faith of the heart
I’m going where my heart will take me
I’ve got faith to believe
I can do anything
I’ve got strength of the soul”

It’s been a long road
Getting from there to here
It’s been a long time
But my time is finally near
And I can see my dreams come alive at last
I will touch the sky
And they’re not gonna hold me down no more
No they’re not gonna change my mind.
Cause I’ve got faith of the heart
I’m going where my heart will take me
I’ve got faith to believe
I can do anything
I’ve got strength of the soul
And no one’s gonna bend or break me
I can reach any star
I’ve got faith
I’ve got faith
Faith of the heart
[Rod Stewart version follows]
It’s been a long road
Getting from there to here
It’s been a long time
But my time is finally near
And I can feel the change in the wind right now
Nothing’s in my way
And they’re not gonna hold me down no more
No they’re not gonna hold me down
‘Cause I’ve got faith of the heart
I’m going where my heart will take me
I’ve got faith to believe, I can do anything
I’ve got strength of the soul
And no one’s gonna bend or break me
I can reach any star, I’ve got faith
I’ve got faith, faith of the heart
It’s been a long night
Trying to find my way
Been through the darkness
Now I finally have my day
And I will see my dream come alive at last
I will touch the sky
And they’re not gonna hold me down no more
No they’re not gonna change my mind
‘Cause I’ve got faith of the heart
I’m going where my heart will take me
I’ve got faith to believe, I can do anything
I’ve got strength of the soul
And no one’s gonna bend or break me
I can reach any star, I’ve got faith
Faith of the heart
I’ve known a wind so cold and seen the darkest days
But now the winds I feel are only winds of change
I’ve been through the fire and I’ve been through the rain but I’ll be fine
‘Cause I’ve got faith of the heart
I’m going where my heart will take me
I’ve got faith to believe, I can do anything
I’ve got strength of the soul
And no one’s gonna bend or break me
I can reach any star, I’ve got faith
Faith of the
Faith of the heart
I’m going where my heart will take me
I’ve got faith to believe
That no one’s gonna bend or break me
I can reach any star
‘Cause I’ve got faith
‘Cause I’ve got faith
Faith of the heart
It’s been a long road
